“ The atmosphere was great. I admire the interior. The food was average. However, it was carefully served on small plates, so I think it would be Instagrammable. ”

“ was exploring tamatsushima shrine and got hungry and saw this cafe on gmaps that was nearby so i decided to stop by. i dont really speak japanese but they were all very nice about it. i think its a pretty popular cafe with the locals, there was a wait when i got there around 3pm. i got sat in front of the windows with a view of the garden :) the menu was all in japanese but all the food items had pictures so that was very helpful. i got their matcha waffle set and a milk tea. if you order waffles and a drink they give you a 100¥ discount off the drink. both were very yummy and the vibes were immaculate. if you’re in the area, i def recommend a stop by. they do actual meals but it ends at 2pm so i wasnt able to try but i dont doubt that theyre good too :) 10/10 recommend ”

“ I visited for tea after lunch around 3pm on a weekday. I was seated right away, and there were a few other groups inside. The beautiful interior, befitting the name of this traditional Japanese cafe, and the time I spent gazing out at the Japanese garden were truly blissful. Time passed slowly while I was at this cafe, and both my heart and stomach were satisfied. ”

“ A charming coffee shop with a history spanning over 130 years. Time seems to flow slowly inside the calming atmosphere. The gentle sunlight streaming in through the windows was lovely. You can relax here, enjoying coffee and waffles. The large windows overlook a well-maintained Japanese garden, offering seasonal views. Their specialty waffles come in a wide variety, so it's hard to decide which one to order. Since I'd come all the way to Wakayama, I decided to try the Kii waffle. I ordered the Shuji collaboration mitarashi waffle The crispy outside and fluffy inside of the waffle dough complemented perfectly with the sauce made with Wakayama's Yuasa soy sauce The menu also offers a taste of local flavor, including Wakayama's specialty chagayu set meal, and I'd love to return The atmosphere is also great, so be sure to stop by when you want to relax ◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇ [Menu] ・Yuasa Soy Sauce Mitarashi Waffle / ¥1,790 ◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇◆◇ ”

“ I had previously visited this restaurant with my uncle and aunt, who live in Wakayama City, and I absolutely wanted to return! This time, I was heading to Wakaura, so naturally, I decided to drop by! However, it's a very popular restaurant. It's quite difficult to get in after noon. I arrived around 3:00, and there were only two other groups waiting, so I waited about 20 minutes before being seated. The interior has a very relaxing atmosphere, the garden is beautiful, and the old house is stylishly decorated. It's my favorite restaurant! Since I'd come to this restaurant, I absolutely had to try the waffles! These fluffy, crispy, freshly made waffles were impeccable! The waffles were delicious! It was a hot day, so I ordered iced coffee and my son ordered cinnamon coffee. We shared the luxurious Uji matcha waffle between the two of us. No matter how many times I eat them, I'm always satisfied with the waffles. The iced coffee was also delicious, with just the right amount of bitterness. No matter how many times I visit, I always want to come back! This is my favorite place! Thank you for the meal! ”

“ October 3, 2025: Afternoon Tea Time Behind the 108th Steps of Kishu Toshogu Shrine~ Jun Tea House Relais is a unique traditional Japanese-style coffee shop located in the Wakaura area of Wakayama City. Boasting a building over 120 years old, it's a popular spot for locals to check in and relax. Originally a villa from the Meiji era, it was renovated into a tea house, preserving the quaint atmosphere of the old house and its scenic gardens. ”

“ The place is gorgeous looking, with a beautiful garden seen from the windows. They have options for the set menu available before 14. Special set, European style, and Japanese style. And of course many options of desserts you definitely will have a hard time to choose from remember, all the desserts consist of very foamy cream and ice-cream so make sure you won't spend too much time on taking pictures of that masterpiece ”

“ I went a little after lunchtime on a weekday, but I was able to get in right away. I was a little worried about the large number of older ladies, but the staff were young, so I felt relieved (lol). I ordered the tea porridge set meal, which I don't usually make myself. The side dishes that went perfectly with the tea porridge were amazing!! Although it was just porridge, I was full, and I'd like to go back for the waffles again next time. I'd heard that it gets so busy on holidays that you have to wait, so I was glad I was able to get in right away. ”
